Groundwater resources will be assessed in two different atoll environments, Kiribati and Tuvalu, using field investigation techniques and groundwater modelling to both characterise the resources and to consider the sustainable development potential. The results will provide a solid basis on which groundwater development may occur with regard to predicted pressures, such as climate variability or increased abstraction demand.

These results will also be applicable to other atolls in the Pacific. The extension of the information from the assessments and the groundwater models will be made available using visual and tactile media, such as graphics, animation and physical models, to make it more accessible to a non-technical audience.
